HuluJune is set to return to Gilead in The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6 Episode 5, an event you definitely won’t want to miss, so be sure to keep tabs on exactly what time the latest installment drops on Hulu.
The sixth and final season of the hit Hulu show ultimately centers around June and Serena’s separate paths. June is embroiled in Mayday’s impending rebel war against Gilead, while Serena is heading up New Bethlehem in a bid to reform the state and end the US government for good.
As for Janine, she’s been sent to Jezebels, where she’s encountered Timothy Simons’ evil new High Commander. Meanwhile, Joseph Lawrence is working alongside Serena to change Gilead (and grappling with his new wife, the former Naomi Putnam).
Last week’s Season 6 Episode 4 felt like it was laying the groundwork, but don’t fret, as these events are set to pay off in Episode 5 – and its release date is coming up.
The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6 Episode 5 release date & time
The fifth episode of The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6 lands on Hulu on April 22, 2025, at 12am ET. This means those on PT will get it a day earlier – April 21, 2025, at 9pm.
If you live outside of the US, you’ll either have to wait for an international release, or sign up to Hulu by using a VPN and purchasing a gift card for the streaming service.

What to expect in Season 6 Episode 5
HuluThe upcoming Episode 5 is titled ‘Janine’, so no prizes for guessing that we’ll be seeing more of The Handmaid’s Tale character. To be more specific, in Season 6 Episode 4, Moira and June volunteered to carry out a dry run at Jezebels’ penthouse ahead of Mayday’s planned attack.
While preparing for the mission, they discovered Janine is now working there, so it’s likely the three of them will be reunited in Episode 5. Luke will also be joining them on their dry run after he and June settled their differences.
As we know from past experiences, these missions never run smoothly – but just how deadly are things going to get? Also, with High Commander Lawrence now frequenting Jezebels out of necessity rather than desire, there’s a chance he and June may run into each other.
When it comes to Serena, The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6 trailer teases Serena’s wedding. It’s highly unlikely we’ll be seeing this unfold just yet, but given her and Wharton are growing closer, we can expect their relationship to continue to grow in Episode 5.
There’s also the fallout of Season 6 Episode 3, when Nick shot two Guardians while helping June, Moira, and Luke. With Wharton watching Nick’s every move, will he finally be held accountable for his actions?
Episode 5 will be giving us some of the answers, as per the official description, “June and Moira go undercover. Serena and Nick make consequential choices.”
