The Mandalorian & Grogu is coming to the big screen next year, with Pedro Pascal reprising his titular role – and we may even get to see his face.
By the end of The Mandalorian Season 3, Din and Grogu (now officially his son) were living a peaceful life on Nevarro. Moff Gideon was (seemingly) killed on Mandalore, the Great Forge was relit, and Din was ready to take on some new bounty-hunting contracts from the New Republic.
Next year – May 22, 2026, to be exact – the galaxy far, far away’s space cowboy will return in The Mandalorian & Grogu, kicking off a new slate of Star Wars movies (including Ryan Gosling’s Starfighter).
We still don’t know many details about what will happen in the new film – but it could feature more of Pedro Pascal than you’re expecting.
Pedro Pascal could appear unmasked in The Mandalorian & Grogu
In a behind-the-scenes photo shared at Star Wars Celebration in Japan, Pedro Pascal can be seen in his Mandalorian costume… and he’s not wearing his helmet.
For those unaware, it’s a big deal for a Mandalorian to remove their helmet. They can take it off when they’re completely alone (or in the company of a droid), but they must never show their faces to another human being, as per the ways of… the Way.
He took off his helmet at the end of Season 2, which is why he had to bathe in the living waters under the mines of Mandalore in Season 3 – it’s the only way a Mandalorian can shake off apostate status and redeem themselves.

So, it looks like he’ll take his helmet off again in the film. “No helmet Mando means Pedro!” one fan reacted excitedly.
“So excited Pedro decided to come back to play Din Djarin physically on The Mandalorian and Grogu movie,” another wrote. “THE MANDALORIAN AND GROGU FOOTAGE LOOKS AMAZING… PEDRO OUT OF HELMET. I AM ALIVE,” a third posted.
During the presentation at Star Wars Celebration, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy promised fans they’ll have a “great time” whether or not they watched the original series.
“He’s introducing the characters we know, but he’s also introducing new characters. And seeing Baby Yoda up on the big screen, I gotta tell ‘ya, it’s pretty cool,” she added.
