What time is The Paper out? How to watch The Office spinoff

Domhnall Gleeson in The Paper

Oh my god, it’s happening: The Paper, the new spinoff of The Office, is almost here, so make sure you know when and where to stream it.

Spinoffs were pitched even before the original series ended. For example, Parks and Recreation was originally connected to The Office before it was developed as a separate series, and a show centered on Dwight (called The Farm) filmed a backdoor pilot, but it was never picked up.

Perhaps most notoriously, Leslie David Baker (who played Stanley) launched a Kickstarter campaign for Uncle Stan, a spinoff that’d follow a retired Stanley as he helps his nephew raise his kids. It never came to fruition, and backers were refunded.

Now, Greg Daniels has returned with the first official spinoff: The Paper, and it’s hours away from its premiere.

The Paper release date & time

The Paper will be available to stream on Peacock at 6pm PT/9pm ET on Thursday, September 4.

For UK viewers, you’ll be able to watch the full series via NOW and Sky on September 5 (it should drop at 2am BST, but this hasn’t been confirmed). If you want to wait, you can watch the first two episodes at 9pm BST on September 5. You can check other time zones below:

  • 10pm Brazil
  • 2am UK
  • 3am Central European Summer Time
  • 4am Eastern European Summer Time
  • 6:30am India
  • 11am Australia
  • 1pm New Zealand

How many episodes of The Paper are there?

There are 10 episodes in the first season of The Paper, and they’re all around 30 minutes long.

This is a slight step-up from Season 1 of The Office, which only had six episodes, with other seasons running for as long as 28 episodes. With Season 2 already renewed, it’s unclear if the spinoff will have more episodes per season in the future.

Is The Paper being released all at once?

The cast of The Office spinoff The Paper

Yes, all 10 episodes of The Paper will be available to stream as soon as it premieres.

That wasn’t the original plan. The first four episodes were set to release first, with two new episodes dropping weekly thereafter, running until September 25.

Why? Could it be because audiences have been trained out of watching half-hour TV shows each week by streamers? That’s the likeliest answer, but according to Peacock, it’s down to the positive response among critics.

“Citing positive responses from people who have previewed the series (though not in print; reviews are embargoed until closer to the premiere), Peacock, Universal Television and the show’s producers decided to make the change and drop the entire season at once,” The Hollywood Reporter wrote.
