As the second season comes to a close, Reenie has the most to lose after her fateful client has his own missing case. But Tracker Season 2 Episode 19 was more important for Colter thanks to one big secret.
If you haven’t caught up with the binge-worthy TV show yet, let’s bring you up to speed. Our focus this time around stayed on Reenie and her client, Leo Sharf. His missing assistant led to a case that became a “personal vendetta” with more that’s uncovered.
Reenie herself ends up kidnapped after being caught in the crossfire, with Colter and Bobby tracking her location through her sleep-tracking watch. Cyrus’ little sister Francie is behind the whole ordeal, with Colter saving Reenie’s life in the process.
It’s a lot for one woman to deal with in a single episode of epic TV, but Tracker Season 2 Episode 19’s most interesting plot point affects Colter directly, and we’ve finally got a massive question answered in the process.
Colter finally opens the box of his dad’s things in Tracker Season 2 Episode 19
If you’re a long-time Tracker fan, you’ll know Colter and Dory have been plagued by the contents of a mysterious box that likely has something to do with how their dad died. In Season 2 Episode 19, Colter finally opens it, setting up another cliffhanger just in time for the season finale.

The significance of the box bookends everything that happens with Reenie in this episode, with Dory giving Colter the box at the beginning between her classes. You might remember that Lizzy, Dory’s childhood friend, gave her the box to begin with during Season 1.

At the time, Lizzy dropped a huge bombshell. Dad Ashton worked with Lizzy’s mother, first being coworkers and then lovers. This is how Lizzy’s mother was in possession of a file box full of Ashton’s research papers, which was the same box Lizzy had already turned over to Dory.
By the end of Season 2 Episode 19, Colter has worked up the courage to open the box. Inside, he finds lots of papers, a whittled animal, some rocks, and notebooks full of scribblings. However, there’s a folded piece of paper hidden in the spine of one of these notebooks.
What’s written on the paper, I hear you ask? A phone number, which of course we see Colter dial just before the episode closes out. The number itself appears to be disconnected, setting a foreboding and eerie cliffhanger in place ahead of the season finale.
What this actually means for the season finale – not to mention Colter and Dory – we don’t yet know, but Colter has had his own theories brewing for a while.
“Lizzy said that her mother and our dad got into a fight the night that he dropped the box off,” we see him tell Dory. “I’m thinking maybe it was because he was pressuring her to do something with it because he’d lost his academic credibility…. I can’t help but think that there is something in that box that’s connected to what happened to Dad the night he died.”
