Tracker Season 2 Episode 20 trailer reveals major returning character that could change everything

The second season finale is barrelling towards us at lightning speed, but already the Tracker Season 2 Episode 20 trailer has revealed a corker cameo that’s set for an explosive return.
Season 2 might be two episodes shorter than we first thought, but that doesn’t mean the 19 episodes we’ve binged this year haven’t packed a punch. With the mysteries around Ashton’s death becoming the overarching plot, our characters have each had their own share of personal drama.
Just take Reenie, for example. One minute, you’re working with a client who seems to be promising, the next you’re being kidnapped after his assistant goes missing. All’s well that ends well, though, with Colter able to save Reenie’s life at the last minute.
Now, the binge-worthy TV show is coming to an end. We’ve still got a few days to go, but the Tracker Season 2 Episode 20 trailer is already out – and it’s revealed a cameo that’s bound to shake things up.
Colter’s mom Mary returns in Tracker Season 2 Episode 20 trailer
Given Colter is heading back to his hometown, Echo Ridge, it makes sense he’ll be met by his strong-willed mom Mary. Maybe, just maybe, he’ll finally get some solid answers about what happened to his dad Ashton and how he died.

Fans will likely better remember Mary from her early appearances in Season 1. Mary raised Colter and his siblings on a remote California compound where husband Ashton took them before his mysterious death. She now lives there alone but is still the emotional center of Colter’s restless life and the key to the secrets of his past.

Finally, those secrets could be coming out. If you’re a long-time Tracker fan, you’ll know Colter and Dory have been plagued by the contents of a mysterious box that likely has something to do with how their dad died. In Season 2 Episode 19, Colter finally opens it.
The significance of the box bookends everything that happens with Reenie in this episode, with Dory giving Colter the box at the beginning between her classes. You might remember that Lizzy, Dory’s childhood friend, gave her the box to begin with during Season 1.
At the time, Lizzy dropped a huge bombshell. Dad Ashton worked with Lizzy’s mother, first being coworkers and then lovers. This is how Lizzy’s mother was in possession of a file box full of Ashton’s research papers, which was the same box Lizzy had already turned over to Dory.
By the end of Season 2 Episode 19, Colter has worked up the courage to open the box. Inside, he finds lots of papers, a whittled animal, some rocks, and notebooks full of scribblings. However, there’s a folded piece of paper hidden in the spine of one of these notebooks.
What’s written on the paper is a phone number, which of course we see Colter dial just before the episode closes out. The number itself appears to be disconnected, setting a foreboding and eerie cliffhanger in place ahead of the season finale.
What this actually means for the season finale – not to mention Colter and Dory – we don’t yet know, but Colter has had his own theories brewing for a while.
“Lizzy said that her mother and our dad got into a fight the night that he dropped the box off,” we see him tell Dory. “I’m thinking maybe it was because he was pressuring her to do something with it because he’d lost his academic credibility…. I can’t help but think that there is something in that box that’s connected to what happened to Dad the night he died.”
How Mary fits into this puzzle – and perhaps more importantly, what she does and doesn’t know – remains to be seen, particularly given we last saw her appear in Season 2 Episode 2. Colter previously believed Russell was responsible for killing Ashton, with Mary doing little to suggest otherwise. She insisted that Colter dodge his brother’s calls, but a lot has changed since then.
