Universal PicturesWicked has finally arrived on Peacock – but if you want to watch it for free, there is one sneaky way.
Directed by Jon M. Chu, the musical adaptation chronicled the secret story of the Wicked Witch of the West – or, as she should be known, Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) – and Glinda (Ariana Grande), revealing how two best friends became symbols of good and evil.
It was one of the most ‘Popular’ movies of 2024, critically acclaimed and beloved by fans alike, and it even became a heavyweight contender at the Oscars, taking home two Academy Awards. It was also one of the highest-grossing movies of the year, raking in nearly $740 million worldwide.
This weekend, living room and bedroom karaoke will get a serious upgrade, because Wicked is available to stream on Peacock. However, if you don’t want to sign up for the streaming service, there is a way to watch it for free.
How to watch Wicked for free
If you want to watch Wicked for free on Peacock, you’ll need a free trial. Peacock doesn’t offer one directly, but if you go via Instacart, you can access the streaming platform for free.
To be clear, you don’t need to pay for Instacart, either. It offers a two-week free trial that doesn’t require you to fill in any credit card information – all you need is an email address.
Once you’ve created an account and signed up for an Instacart+ free trial, go to your account page (or Instacart’s Peacock page) and accept the offer. From there, you’ll activate your Peacock account, enter a few details (a password, your full name, gender, and birth year), and you can start streaming.
To be clear, this only lasts two weeks. Thankfully, Instacart doesn’t demand any payment information until your free trial ends, so don’t worry about $99 being taken out of your account for an annual subscription.
