When Calls the Heart Season 13 finally confirmed by Hallmark but but it could have one huge change

All seemed to be well in the Season 12 finale, until the final few scenes changed everything in Hope Valley for good. Logic tells us When Calls the Heart Season 13 won’t be the same either.

Just as we needed a spot of good news, Hallmark delivered. When Calls the Heart Season 13 has officially been picked up to air, meaning we’ll be heading back to Hope Valley some time in 2026.

“Hearties are far more than a fan-base – they are a connected community, as loyal and supportive as the characters of Hope Valley,” Hallmark Media SVP of Programming Samantha DiPippo said in a statement. “It is an honor to tell stories of hope, resilience, humor and romance that continue to resonate with millions of viewers for twelve seasons and beyond.”

However, there’s a problem. The final few moments of Season 12 turned everything we know about the binge-worthy TV show on its head, and more changes to When Calls the Heart are now bound to be on the horizon.

Will Elizabeth and Nathan return to Hope Valley in When Calls the Heart Season 13?

As Little Jack’s health took another turn for the worse, fans saw Elizabeth, Nathan, and the kids leave Hope Valley for Cape Fullerton. Question is… will they return to live in Hope Valley in the near future.

Nathan and Elizabeth dance together in When Calls the Heart Season 12

Let’s assess what we know. At the end of Episode 12, Elizabeth tries talking to Jack about a hike Nathan mentioned earlier but gets no response. He’s out cold, leaving Elizabeth screaming for help. Faith tells her the lab has been getting calls from patients experiencing new symptoms, thinking the latest supply wasn’t properly refrigerated in transit.

Elizabeth knows where to go for more, though – Cape Fullerton. She’d previously received a letter from her mom convincing Jack to be moved closer to their state-of-the-art hospital facilities. Faith advises Elizabeth might be better off moving closer to the hospital for the immediate future. She packs Jack up and heads on her way, with Nathan and Allie tracking them down just before they get too far.

We’re left with a startling statement. “I know everything seems uncertain tonight, but no matter what, somehow we will return to Hope Valley,” Elizabeth’s final voiceover tells us.

Given what we know, it’s unlikely we’re going to see the foursome settled back in Hope Valley like nothing has happened at the start Season 13. Little Jack has been on the brink of death in these last two episodes, reminding us his journey back to good health is a lifelong one. He’s going to need continous access to the best insulin treatment possible, and that just isn’t in Hope Valley.

Elizabeth and Nathan cuddle Little Jack in When Calls the Heart

As different seasons of When Calls the Heart seem to account for different years, we can guess Season 13 will pick up in 1922-1923. With that in mind, it’s most likely Nathan and Elizabeth will still be settled in Cape Fullerton when the season starts. However, it wouldn’t be surprising to see their relocation back home as a big season plotline.

Alternatively, we could see life continue on as normal if Elizabeth’s classic voiceovers are going to fill us in on what we missed. Considering how big of a deal Little Jack’s diabetes diagnosis is, this doesn’t feel like it would fully do the storyline justice.

For now, it’s truly a case of “Where you go, I go.” Logistics such as Nathan’s Mountie job and Elizabeth’s invite to speak at the eduction conference need to be worked out… but hey, Hallmark has a year to do it.
