Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins has opened up about his experience battling cancer, revealing that it was an “eye-opening” ordeal.
Ninja first revealed in March 2024 that he had been diagnosed with cancer, admitting he was “in a bit of a shock” after learning that a mole he had was melanoma.
After undergoing a procedure, Ninja soon shared that he was cancer-free shortly afterward. But the situation wasn’t entirely behind him, as he’s since revealed the ongoing battle.
In an interview with Indy 100, he revealed that he later had to deal with another mole, which also turned out to be cancerous. Although it has been removed, things haven’t felt quite the same since.
Ninja speaks about his experience battling cancer

Ninja said he now feels his whole life is on “defense,” constantly monitoring for signs, but he described the experience as “eye-opening.”
Recounting the start, it all began when he and his wife went for a check-up ahead of a holiday to the Bahamas. The doctor noticed a mole on his foot and suggested keeping an eye on it. A couple of weeks later, at a different clinic, a doctor took a small sample of the mole.
The sample came back as “super early melanoma,” and Ninja and his wife immediately scheduled its removal. It was during his recovery that Ninja realized just how serious things had become, considering everything that had happened to him.
He recalled a moment of vulnerability while sitting on the couch, unable to walk for a couple of days, when he thought, “Life is short, anything can happen.”
“You don’t feel it either. I guess that’s the case with any cancer that’s super early; your body doesn’t feel anything, and that can be really scary. I was in shape, I was healthy, eating relatively well, exercising, and I didn’t feel like I had something that could kill me,” he added.

Ultimately, he said the experience was “eye-opening.” Although difficult to put into words, he considers himself very lucky to have caught it early.
