Tectone hits out at Twitch after sudden ban catches him by surprise

Twitch streamer Tectone is putting the Amazon-owned platform on blast after he was suddenly banned while watching anime.

On March 20, former OTK member Tectone was hit with a ban that completely caught him off guard, as he didn’t believe he was doing anything wrong.

Twitch and other streaming sites typically don’t let users watch copyrighted content on stream, but there have been a few exceptions in the past.

For example, legendary YouTuber IShowSpeed was allowed to watch One Piece, his favorite anime, in its entirety on stream after speaking to a producer.

In another instance, Disguised Toast landed a deal with Crunchyroll in order to get paid for watching shows like Death Note.

However, while Tectone didn’t have permission, he was still confused about his suspension and made his voice heard on social media.

Tectone calls Twitch ban “crazy” after sudden suspension

In a series of posts, Tectone claimed that he wasn’t breaking any rules, because the website he was using allows users watch anime for free, even without paying for subscription services.

“I find it crazy that I got banned for watching anime on stream on a site that allows anyone to watch it for free without a subscription,” he wrote shortly after his suspension. “Like, what rule was I possibly breaking?”

He also mocked fellow Twitch streamer Hasan, who stirred up controversy when he showed a video about the Houthi organization, a group designated as a terrorist organization by the US State Department, and only received a warning from the platform.

“Sh*t my bad guys. No more anime reacting streams,” Tectone joked. “I’ll be a good boy and platform terrorist instead.”

Luckily, Tectone further suggested that he would be unbanned as early as March 21 and that watching anime might not be the full reason for his ban.

“I just found out the real reason I was banned,” he noted, adding that he would tell viewers about it on stream the next day.

We’ll have to see exactly what Tectone has to reveal, but this wouldn’t be the first Twitch ban to really confuse a creator in March.

On March 18, VTuber Olivia Monroe was suddenly banned on Twitch after being told by Ubisoft she could start her sponsored Assassin’s Creed Shadows stream at 7AM – something Ubisoft had mistaken for 7PM.
