Twitch streamers ‘RelicKris’ and ‘ManukiEmi’ were hiking in the mountains of Switzerland with a PC case strapped to their backs when they found themselves stuck on a steep incline.
RelicKris, a Twitch streamer based in Stockholm, Sweden, is known for his IRL broadcasts traveling through Europe. On September 15, he and fellow streamer ManukiEmi set out to share a hike in one of Switzerland’s famous mountain ranges.
This stream wasn’t your usual IRL stream, though. It featured a special gimmick; they brought a Fractal Terra PC case with them on their ambitious climb, a 12-hour excursion to the peak of Schilthorn in the Swiss Alps.
Such a trek is not for the faint of heart, as the Shilthorn measures 2,970 meters tall (9,744 ft). It’s also famous for its 360-degree revolving restaurant, the Piz Gloria, and even made an appearance in the 1969 James Bond movie ‘On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.’
The two had planned to follow a specific route in advance, but the trail they’d wanted to use had been destroyed in a rockslide by the time they got there. Instead of turning back, the streamers continued on their way, taking a detour that was signaled by official signage in the area.
Twitch streamers rescued as hike in Swiss mountains goes wrong
Around nine hours into their stream, the duo realized they were stuck on one of the Shilthorn’s steep sides, where they were carefully picking their way across the shale as chatters chimed in with advice from their devices around the world.
Worried about the possibility of sliding off the precipitous mountainside, Emi called emergency services, who sent rescuers in a helicopter to get them back to safety.
On their descent, RelicKris explained that there hadn’t been any information about the trail closure on the Schilthorn’s main website, which he claimed they had researched prior to their climb.

“Today was not supposed to be dangerous,” RelicKris said on their way off the mountain. “The safe track got washed away. It got destroyed. We didn’t know this. There was no information, no apps. So we had to take a detour, and that was a bit dangerous.”
In fact, he told viewers that he had canceled the trip up the mountain twice for safety reasons, saying that he “wouldn’t put lives at risk for content. That’s just stupid.”
Thankfully, the pair of streamers were successfully rescued and ended up safe and sound — but this isn’t the first time a broadcaster has gotten themselves into a seriously deadly situation during a live stream.
