Archetypes deliver a brand-new progression system to Clubs in EA SPORTS FC 26. Players can now unlock, progress, and develop 13 distinct Archetypes, each inspired by footballing ICONs. Every Archetype is designed to represent a unique style of play, giving you more ways to shape your Pro and adapt to your preferred role on the pitch.
Each Archetype comes with its own defining characteristics and Signature PlayStyles that set them apart. Whether you want to be a lethal striker, a commanding defender, or a technical playmaker, Archetypes provide the blueprint for how your Virtual Pro evolves across matches and seasons.
What do the Archetypes mean?

Goalkeeper
Goalkeepers in FC 26 are split into two clear styles, giving you the freedom to decide whether you want to dominate shot-stopping or take on a modern sweeper role.
- Shot Stopper
Description: Unphased when faced one-on-one, the Shot Stopper thrives in making difficult saves and can be relied upon under pressure.
Signature PlayStyles: Footwork, Far Reach - Sweeper Keeper
Description: A modern-day goalkeeper, comfortable with the ball at their feet and excelling in a high defensive line. Perfect for teams that want to play out from the back.

Defenders
Defensive Archetypes are designed to cover the full spectrum of roles across the backline, from strong physical stoppers to pacy full-backs who can burst forward.
