Pack animations

EA FC 26 Ultimate Team features a fresh set of pack animations, meaning there’s a whole new set of giveaways to look for when you’ve got a walkout or boards player.

Packs are the lifeblood of Ultimate Team, and you’ll probably open hundreds, if not thousands, by the time the season ends. Each time that animation plays, fans will be hoping that this is the one that contains that game-changing card.

Luckily, there are certain hints and clues that tell you how good the contents will be, so here’s how to know if you’ve got a boards or walkout player.

Boards (81-85)

Boards are the easiest to identify, as the full pack animation only plays if you’ve got a rare player between 81 and 85. If it’s below this rating, there will be no animation and you will be presented with the card right away without the big buildup.

This is pretty useful, as it means you don’t have to sit through the cutscene just to find a 76-rated player on the other side.

Walkout (86+)

If you’ve got a walkout player, the giveaway can be seen when the camera zooms in on the flags revealing the position, league, and nation. If the lines on either side of the flags are silver, this means you’ve packed someone who is 86-rated or above.

At the end of the animation, instead of just seeing the card, the player will actually wander onto the screen to let you know that you’ve earned one of the game’s biggest names.

On the other hand, if the lines are gold, this means it’s only a boards, so the maximum rating in the pack will be 85. We’ve dropped a comparison below to help you spot the difference.

Double walkout

If you’re lucky enough to get more than one walkout in a single pack, you’ll know by looking at the flag that shows a club badge at the end. If it’s flapping in the wind, you’ve only got one, but if it’s straighter and more rigid, you’ve got at least two.

It can be tricky to spot as it’s only onscreen for a couple of seconds, but once you know what to look for, you shouldn’t have any trouble.

The same rules apply if you’ve managed to get a promo player, but the tunnel will have more splashes of color to represent the type of card.
