Driver charged with felony after hitting teen with truck at IShowSpeed meetup

IShowSpeed meets up with fans during a live stream.

A 14-year-old boy was struck by a truck while waiting for top streamer IShowSpeed to make an appearance at Columbia High School in Nampa, Idaho.

IShowSpeed is one of the net’s most popular streamers, best known for his eye-popping feats of athleticism, over-the-top reactions and viral tours around the world.

From Asia to Europe, Australia and more, Speed has taken his millions of followers along for the ride — and now, he’s traveling through the United States, his home country.

The trip has been a chaotic one, much like his other travel streams, with fans following him in droves. The crowds have gotten so big that they even drew the attention of local law enforcement, who nearly charged Speed with inciting a riot during his stop in Dallas, Texas.

While it’s not unusual for online celebrities to draw massive throngs of fans during IRL streams such as Speed’s, the shared excitement over the possibility of meeting influencers face-to-face can result in some dangerous situations.

On Monday, September 22, Speed was set to make an appearance at Columbia High School in Nampa, Idaho. Fans crowded around the outside of the school building in anticipation of being in one of Speed’s streams.

Reports from local news outlets state that “many people” were gathered in the street as the streamer left Happy Valley Rd. when a pickup truck, not related to Speed or his entourage in any way, hit a 14-year-old at the scene. The incident took place around 6 PM that evening.

The driver sped off without stopping to check on the victim, who was rushed to a hospital and released after being treated by medical personnel. No other information about his condition has been released at the time of writing.

Law enforcement officials stated that the driver, identified as 20-year-old Donald Allen Haggin II, called in to report the incident at 7:30 PM and turned himself in at the Nampa Police Department.

Haggin was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an injury accident, a felony that carries a punishment of a fine of up to $5,000, up to five years in prison, and a one-year driver’s license suspension.

Speed has not yet publicly commented on the incident, but he has been forced to confront his fans during his travels through the US for things like driving dangerously close to his tour bus and smashing a window at a restaurant where he was eating.

Speed’s travel streams are notorious for drawing crowds of hundreds of fans, often overwhelming the broadcaster. In one such stream in Norway, Speed injured his ankle and was mobbed by a huge swath of fans who separated him from his security guard and even jumped on top of his car.

And in Austria, Speed begged fans to stop damaging his cars after they would bang on the sides of the vehicles to get his attention. In fact, he ended up paying out $50K for cars that were damaged by viewers during his Europe tour in 2024.

Other streamers have even been hit with legal action over massive fan meetups, such as the time Kai Cenat was charged with inciting a riot during a meet and greet at Times Square that spiraled out of control in 2023.
