Jake Paul’s fight with Gervonta Davis is reportedly in jeopardy as MVP have apparently “withdrawn their request” for an event permit in Georgia.

After adding win after win over mixed martial artists and other YouTubers to his boxing record, Jake Paul switched his focus to ‘real’ boxers following his loss to Tommy Fury.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer has since beaten Andre August, Ryan Bourland, Mike Tyson, and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., and has targeted the likes of Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez as well. The fight with Canelo was reportedly scuppered at the very last minute.

On August 20, Jake announced that he is scheduled to fight Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, on November 14. While there have been many questions about the weight difference between the two fighters, it looks like the bout could be in jeopardy.

Jake vs Tank may not happen in Atlanta

Rick Thompson, chairman of the Georgia Athletic and Entertainment Commission (GAEC), told USA TODAY Sports that Most Valuable Promotions had “withdrawn their request” for event permits and rule waivers.

These permits and waivers are necessary for the fight to be held in the state of Georgia, even if it is scheduled to be an exhibition.

“I believe it’s in the public’s interest to know that because they’ve been promoting something they should not have been,’’ Thompson told USA Today Sports.

Paul and Davis had been set to hold a pre-fight press conference on September 17. However, on September 15, it was then rescheduled to September 22.

Despite the reported permit withdrawal, fans are still able to sign up for pre-sale ticket access, and Netflix is still advertising the fight as going ahead.
