YouTuber Westen Champlin was forced to call the police after thieves broke into a trailer on his property and stole $5,000 in rare tools.

Over the last few years, Westen Champlin has skyrocketed in popularity to become one of the most popular car-focused YouTubers on the platform with nearly 4M subscribers.

The Kansas-based content creator shares videos of his unique car builds and event events like burnout contests on his personal property.

In a video uploaded in February, Champlin revealed that somebody entered his property to break into an enclosed trailer before stealing a handful of rare tools.

Westen Champlin recovered the $5,000 in stolen tools

“As I was driving around I noticed a lot of our car doors were open, then I drove by my shipping container and I noticed all the locks were open,” he said.

“Then I saw Kyle’s trailer. Somebody has beat the lock off of his trailer. Kyle’s our friend, but he’s currently in Australia.”

After they began filming and went to check out the trailer, Westen and his team discovered his toolbox was empty despite it having had $5,000 in tools from an Australian brand inside.

Westen called the police to report everything that was stolen from the property, but that didn’t stop him from trying to locate the tools and recover them himself.

After a few days, the YouTuber discovered a deal on Facebook for the exact tools stolen from his property and met up with the man selling them. Later that night, he arrived back at the shop with a box full of Kyle’s stolen tools.

While he managed to retrieve the stolen tools, Westen was unable to find exactly who stole them – and is leaving that discovery up to the police.
