Gaming creator La’tayvia Deshay Ransom, known online as Tayta Games, has died from colon cancer at 21 years old.

Tayta’s father confirmed her death in a Facebook post on September 17. He said her cancer had spread to her liver and noted that she would have turned 22 just nine days later.

“My Oldest daughter passed this morning,” he wrote in the post. “My baby had colon cancer that spread to her liver. La’tayvia Deshay Ransom would have been 22 years old in nine days. I’ve been doing two-a-days at the hospital for the past week, praying for the best. Talking to her made me so optimistic. I just can’t believe I lost my child.”

Her brothers posted a video to Tayta’s YouTube channel revealing the news, as well.

Tributes pour in

Tayta built a following of more than a million across Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok, where she was known for her comedic reactions while playing games like Minecraft, Dress to Impress, and various indie horror games. She had also documented her cancer journey, first announcing her diagnosis last year and later sharing updates about her chemotherapy.

In the comments of her most recent YouTube upload, posted five months ago, she told fans she was struggling with side effects. “I’m doing okay!! I haven’t been posting because I’m experiencing the side effects from chemo,” she wrote, adding that she was dealing with peripheral neuropathy and missed interacting with her viewers.

Tayta’s twin brother also shared a tribute on Instagram, calling her the “sweetest” and “funniest” person. “Once I astral project, we gon’ travel dimensions together,” he wrote. “No worries, yo crazy twin brothers gon’ hold it down, but I’ll be seeing you soon my immortal warrior.”
